Magic Johnson Tells CNN He’ll Pray for Donald Sterling

On Tuesday, former NBA star Magic Johnson went on CNN to respond to comments made a day earlier on the same network by embattled L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Sterling, who was heard making racially insensitive remarks in recordings revealed last month, and who the NBA is now trying to force to sell his team, attacked Johnson in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, saying, in part:

"What kind of a guy goes to every city, has sex with every girl, then he catches HIV? Is that someone we want to respect and tell our kids about? I think he should be ashamed of himself. I think he should go into the background. But what does he do for the black people? He doesn't do anything."

Last night on CNN, Johnson said of Sterling: “It’s sad. It really is. I’m going to pray for this ... man.”
