ARLINGTON, Va. -- Senator Joseph I. Lieberman withdrew from the presidential race last night after failing to win a single state yesterday, ending the candidacy of a career-long public servant who rose from Connecticut's state Legislature in 1970 to become his party's vice presidential candidate in the disputed 2000 election.
