LOS ANGELES -- A van collided with a shuttle bus yesterday morning at Los Angeles International Airport, injuring 18 people, six critically, authorities said.
Firefighters had to pry the driver of the van from the mangled wreckage, fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
The collision happened shortly before 10 a.m. on a bridge on airport property leading from remote parking Lot C to passenger terminals, Humphrey said.
There were no details on the cause of the crash.
There were 17 people on the Los Angeles World Airports commuter bus, Humphrey said. Five of them and the driver of the van were taken to hospitals in critical condition, paramedics said. Twelve others with lesser injuries also were taken to hospitals.
