Girl in Internet porn pictures is located
ORLANDO -- A girl who appeared in a series of sexually explicit pictures taken at a Walt Disney World hotel and other locations has been found and is now safe, authorities said yesterday. The girl, living in a foster home in the Pittsburgh area, was located after officials found a match Thursday in one of several law enforcement databases of child pornography, state and federal officials said. The officials variously gave her age as 11 or 12. She has been in foster care since 2003 when her adoptive father -- the man believed to have taken the pictures -- was arrested on charges related to trading child porn on the Internet, said Matt Irwin, a detective with the Orange County Sheriff's Office. The man began serving a 15-year sentence in a federal prison last year. The suspect adopted the Russian-born girl when she was 5, Irwin said. She has appeared in about 200 photos. (AP)

Father of missing children imprisoned
KANSAS CITY -- A man who refuses to reveal the whereabouts of his two children was sent to prison yesterday for 10 years on an unrelated gun charge, a sentence that prosecutors hope will persuade him to talk. Daniel Porter, 42, is awaiting trial in November on charges of kidnapping his children, who have been missing since last June, when he picked them up from his former wife, Tina, for a weekend visit. The youngsters were 7 and 8 at the time. ''Mr. Porter holds the keys to his jail cell," prosecutor Mike Sanders said. Porter was given a chance to speak yesterday but said nothing. (AP)

Judge adds jail terms in assault on man
LINDEN -- Citing the crime's seriousness, a judge yesterday added short jail terms to sentences recommended by juries for two of four white men convicted of assaulting a mentally disabled black man in 2003 and leaving him in a field. Judge Ralph K. Burgess invoked his right yesterday to add jail terms for James Hicks and Christopher Amox. Hicks, 26, got 10 years' probation and 60 days behind bars. Amox, 20, got two years' probation and a 30-day jail sentence. The victim, Billy Ray Johnson, had been found unconscious on a fire ant mound and now lives in a nursing home, where he is unable to walk without help or speak clearly. (AP)![]()
