For the record

Note to readers: In observance of Memorial Day, the Globe will follow its weekend/holiday schedule with delivery in most areas by 8 a.m. Monday. The Customer Service Department hours of operation are 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday.

Correction: Because of a reporting and editing error, a Page One story yesterday on a panel's findings in the death of Victoria Snelgrove reported that Police Commissioner Kathleen M. O'Toole said two commanders and three officers involved could be fired. O'Toole did not explicitly say officers could be fired, but did say the department is starting an internal disciplinary process. Though not stated by O'Toole, that process, depending on the administrative charges filed, could lead to penalties ranging from verbal warnings to suspensions or firings. Because of an editing error, a photo of O'Toole with the story was incorrectly credited. It was by Globe Staff photographer Jonathan Wiggs.

Correction: Because of incorrect information provided by Photo Researchers, a photograph of an Eastern grey squirrel in the Health/Science section Tuesday illustrated a story about hibernation. Eastern grey squirrels do not hibernate.

Correction: Because of incorrect information provided to the Globe by Yahoo Inc., a story about Yahoo's search strategy in Monday's Business & Innovation section mischaracterized an acquisition by Overture before it was purchased by Yahoo. Overture acquired just the Internet Business Unit of Fast Search & Transfer in 2003. Fast itself remains an independent company.

The Globe welcomes information about errors that call for corrections. Information may be e-mailed to comments@globe.com, faxed to 617-929-8230, or left in a message at 617-929-8230. A listing of other Globe contacts can be found on Page B2.
