LOS ANGELES -- The City Council has agreed to scrap an $11 billion plan to modernize Los Angeles International Airport as part of a settlement with neighboring communities that had opposed the project.
The council's unanimous vote on Wednesday paved the way for the city to draft a new plan to overhaul the outdated facility for the third time in 11 years.
The settlement allows Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to propose a plan estimated to cost $4 billion.![]()
