Ethics complaint filed against Sen. Bayh
INDIANAPOLIS --A conservative group filed an ethics complaint against U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh on Thursday, saying the Democrat failed to report his position with a family foundation on his Senate financial disclosure forms for three separate years.
Judicial Watch, which describes itself as a conservative nonpartisan organization investigating government corruption, filed the complaint with the Senate Committee on Ethics.
The complaint said that in 2003, 2004 and 2005, Bayh failed to comply with federal requirements by not listing his position as director of the Evan and Susan Bayh Foundation on his disclosure forms.
Bayh spokeswoman Meghan Keck said that it was simply an oversight brought to their attention by USA Today about a month ago and that the filings were immediately corrected.
But the Judicial Watch complaint said the failure represents "improper conduct that reflects upon the United States Senate."
The Evan and Susan Bayh Foundation was formed in 2002 with money left over from Bayh's Indiana gubernatorial campaigns and has made donations to hospitals and charities, including the National Guard Family Relief Fund.![]()
