Today's contest: Mississippi Democratic presidential primary

Email|Print| Text size +
March 11, 2008

Voting: 8 a.m.-8 p.m. EDT.

At stake: 33 delegates.

The race: Blacks are expected to constitute more than half of Democratic voters, and Barack Obama has swept states with large African-American electorates so far. Hillary Clinton was first lady of neighboring Arkansas for 16 years. Obama led by between 6 and 24 percentage points in polls last week. Both candidates have campaigned in the state, though Obama stumped there yesterday, while Clinton spent the day in Pennsylvania, site of the next big showdown on April 22.
