Today's contest

Guam Democratic caucuses

Email|Print|Single Page| Text size +
May 3, 2008

Voting: 8 p.m. yesterday to 6 a.m. today EDT

At stake: 4 pledged delegates

The race: Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have campaigned long distance in the tiny Pacific island via radio and phone interviews and have also run ads. Neither candidate has expended lots of energy on the contest, but it is a sign of how long and close the race is that Guam could matter. Obama has three staff members there, while Clinton is counting on Senator Tina Muña-Barnes. A curious wrinkle: The village of Inarajan voted on April 26 because the caucus conflicted with the fiesta honoring its patron saint. The results have been kept under wraps until today.
