CHICAGO—Authorities say a Mexicana Airlines flight overshot a runway while landing at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport but that no one was injured.

Department of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride says an arrestor bed of lightweight concrete blocks at the end of a runway stopped the plane just after 7 p.m. Friday night.

Mexicana Airlines spokesman Adolfo Crespo says there were 145 passengers and crew aboard the Airbus A320, which departed from Mexico City. Crespo says crosswinds forced Flight 802's nose gear off the runway.

Pride says the arrestor bed was installed specifically to stop planes that overshoot runways and that it "worked perfectly."

Pride says she expects the runway to reopen soon.

Crespo says the airline operates 15 daily flights to O'Hare.
