For the record

Correction: Because of a reporting error, the record for Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis against winning teams was incorrect in a story on Notre Dame and bowl bids in yesterday's Sports section. Weis's record against winning teams is 12-17.

Correction: Because of a reporting error, a story about the National Book Award winners in Thursday's Metro section misstated the academic appointment of Annette Gordon-Reed, winner of the nonfiction prize for "The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family." Gordon-Reed is a professor of law at New York Law School.

Correction: Because of a reporting error, a story in yesterday's Business section about Akamai Technologies Inc. misstated the company's revenue expectations. Akamai is concerned that it might not be able to sustain the growth rates of years past.

Correction: Because of reporting errors, a story in the Nov. 9 Metro section about three hate messages recently received at Simmons College included several incorrect statements about the nature and timing of those incidents. The two most recent incidents - which involved a racist note slipped under a black student's door and racist language written on the wall outside another black student's door - occurred on Thursday, Nov. 6, not Tuesday, Nov. 4. The college reported no such incident involving a slur against homosexuals, although three students said one of the messages also included anti-gay language. None of the hate messages was written on a whiteboard, according to college officials. And college president Helen Drinan did not say that she had increased the number of campus security details in a Nov. 5 e-mail to students. In a Nov. 7 e-mail to the community, she said that she was committed to "ensuring that Simmons has the necessary security on campus." Because of incorrect information provided to the reporter by a member of the Student Government Association, the story also misstated the date of a sit-in that was planned on campus. That sit-in occurred Friday, Nov. 14.
