■ Correction: Because of a reporting error, a story about the legal battle between two doctors and Caritas Christi Health Care that ran in the Metro section Oct. 31 should have said the six-hospital chain lost money in fiscal 2008. It posted an operating gain of $30.7 million for fiscal 2009, which ended Sept. 30.
■ Correction: Because of an editing error, a New England brief and an accompanying overline in yesterday’s Metro section gave the wrong location for Amherst College. It is in Amherst.
■ Correction: Because of inaccurate information provided to the Globe, a Page One story Oct. 17 about $1.8 billion in cash losses at Harvard University misstated Stanford University’s cash management policy. Stanford invests most of its “expendable funds’’ with its endowment, similar to Harvard’s practice. Stanford keeps certain funds in conservative cash reserves that it said it does not invest.
■ Correction: Because of incorrect information provided to the Associated Press by the Cleveland Police Department, stories that ran in the Globe recently about the discovery of corpses in the home of a sex offender erroneously reported the criminal background of Anthony Sowell. He was convicted of attempted rape, not rape, according to the Ohio prison system and Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court documents.
