Christmas tree going up in NY's Rockefeller Center

NEW YORK—A 76-foot Norway spruce is getting ready for its close-up, just blocks from the Broadway theater district.
Crews cut down the 10-ton tree Wednesday at the Easton, Conn. home of fifth-grade teacher Maria Corti.
On Thursday, it's being hoisted into place in Manhattan's Rockefeller Center. It will stand next to the famous skating rink and a gilded statue depicting Prometheus (pruh-MEE'-thee-uhs) bringing fire to mankind.
The lighting ceremony is Dec. 2.
The first Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was put up in 1931 by workers building the complex during the Depression. The first official tree lighting there was in 1933.
Last year's tree, also a Norway spruce, came from Hamilton, N.J.
