Editor’s note: A story in late editions of yesterday’s Metro section about how Gloucester lobstermen captured 534 lobsters, after the same number of lobsters were released to the depths by Buddhists last week, was based on a hoax by a Gloucester blogger. When interviewed Monday evening, Gloucester blogger Joe Ciaramitaro, whose website goodmorninggloucester.org follows daily happenings in the city, provided details that appeared to verify the story. But yesterday he acknowledged his account of the recaptured lobsters was untrue. The Buddhists released the lobsters off of Cape Ann on Aug. 3 after purchasing them from a Gloucester wholesaler.![]()
