President Obama said a typical family would see a tax increase of about $1,000 next year in the absence of action by Congress.
WASHINGTON - President Obama accepted a move by Senate Democrats to scale back his Social Security payroll tax cut extension yesterday, then prodded Republicans to support it while still calling for a requirement for the very wealthy to pay more taxes.
