WASHINGTON—The Washington National Cathedral says two longtime supporters have each offered to match donations made to the earthquake-damaged edifice.
According to The Washington Post, cathedral officials say the supporters will match all new gifts or pledges to the cathedral up to $500,000 through the end of the year. That means there is a potential for $2 million in donations.
The cathedral was damaged by a 5.8-magnitude earthquake in August that caused stonework to fall off its towers and cracks to form in parts of the building.
