The cats of Mount Washington

Cats have been a part of summit life for a long time. Although Mount Washington is in the fog about 60 percent of the year, it gets quite dry inside the Observatory during the winter because of the heating system. At left, Inga, drank water just like the observers do constantly in winter to stay hydrated. Inga passed away in 1993 at the age of 19 according to author Eric Pinder, who wrote about life at the top of the mountain.
