The former World Bank president, appointed by the Bush administration, resigned in May after a committee report found that he broke ethics rules by giving a substantial raise to his girlfriend.

Wolfowitz served as deputy secretary of defense from 2001 to 2005, and was dubbed an architect of the US invasion of Iraq.
