Shark fears are sweeping the state again. A juvenile great white washed up on Nantucket Monday, and a shark was sighted off nearby Martha's Vineyard last week.

But despite their razor-sharp teeth and menacing appearance, sharks rarely kill humans. National Geographic estimates that from 2001 to 2005, 4.4 people per year died from attacks worldwide, putting your odds of becoming shark lunch at about 1 in 8 million.
