Karl Rove, President Bush's senior political adviser, will voluntarily resign from his White House post at the end of August, senior administration officials said today.

An integral part of President Bush's innermost circle since he was governor of Texas, Rove was nicknamed "the architect" by the president for being the mastermind behind the plan that won him the White House twice.
