Shoes screening
Richard Colvin Reid, a.k.a. the Shoe Bomber, pled guilty in 2002 in US federal court to eight counts of terrorism. He admitted his attempt to blast a commercial aircraft in-flight by detonating explosives hidden in his shoes. His crime led to the new mandatory requirement of airline passengers having to remove their shoes for inspection before boarding a flight.
