Sergeant Benjamin Sherman, 21, Plymouth
Sherman, 21, graduated from Plymouth South High School in 2006, where he was known for his spontaneity and for being the "nut in the class," according to a friend. He loved his tattoos, played the drums, and listened to the hardest of metal music. Sherman joined the Army right after high school. He and his wife, Patricia, 21, were expecting their first child in March and recently bought a house in North Carolina, where he was based. A paratrooper with the Fourth Brigade Combat Team of the 82d Airborne Division, he was serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. Sherman and another soldier disappeared on Nov. 4, 2009, while trying to retrieve supplies dropped into a river, but, his body was recovered later.
