Massachusetts war dead: Afghanistan

Specialist Ethan L. Goncalo, 21, Fall River Goncalo, 21, of Fall River, graduated from Durfee High School in 2008 where he had transferred from Bishop Connolly High School. He was called a power hitter on the school's baseball team, a very hard worker, and 'a very likable kid.' He joined the Massachusetts Army National Guard, and was deployed to Afghanistan in the First Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment from Worcester, a unit that provided security for bases in Kabul and reconstruction teams. He succumbed to his injuries sustained in a noncombat incident in Kabul on Dec. 11, 2010.
