President Clinton started the National Day of Service to honor the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The event continued across the country on Saturday as the second inauguration of President Obama loomed.

The Greater DC Cares organization helped people sign up to pledge service hours during a service on the National Mall in Washington on Saturday.

Ten-year-old Zuri Kilson-Kuchtic took part in The National Day of Service to coincide with President Obama's inauguration by sorting toys at Cradles to Crayons in Brighton.

National Day of Service Honorary Chairwoman Chelsea Clinton participated in a service project with Addison Rose, 8, of Washington, on the National Mall. The two made cards for the Sunshine Mail Foundation, which sends the cards along with care packages to the ill and disadvantaged people.
