WASHINGTON -- Senator Patrick Leahy, the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, announced yesterday that he will vote to confirm John G. Roberts Jr. to be chief justice of the Supreme Court, dismaying liberal activists who had hoped for unified opposition to President Bush's nominee. (Full article: 880 words)
