President Bush blamed Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid yesterday for blocking compromise immigration legislation. The bill, which would offer eventual citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants, fell victim Friday to internal disputes in both parties. Abramoff probe to grow, report says
The criminal investigation of Jack Abramoff and his Washington lobbying activities has expanded to include many spouses and other relatives of the central subjects, The New York Times reported in today's editions, citing lawyers familiar with the investigation. Family members of several lawmakers and lobbyists have faced subpoenas for records and FBI interviews, although none has been charged. Denver OK's pact with transit union
DENVER -- The executive board of the city's mass transit system approved a new labor contract yesterday, clearing the way for all bus and train service to resume tomorrow morning. Striking bus drivers, train operators, and mechanics had overwhelmingly approved the contract Friday. Among other provisions, workers will get a wage increase of $1.80 an hour over three years.
