Brown endorses Cordray to head new consumer watchdog agency
Breaks ranks with GOP, which opposes bureau
Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts has endorsed the nomination of Richard Cordray, the former Ohio Attorney General, to lead the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau - whose chief architect, Elizabeth Warren, could pose a formidable challenge in Brown’s reelection bid next year.
