WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama is attending a meeting of the nation's Democratic governors Friday morning.

The meeting with the Democratic Governors Association is being held in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, a short walk from the White House.

In the afternoon, Obama will meet with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt in the Oval Office.

The president plans to thank the prime minister for Denmark's contribution to the NATO mission in Libya and for its continuing commitment to operations in Afghanistan.

The two leaders will also talk about the recent European summit and the latest steps the continent is taking to address its sovereign debt crisis. Denmark currently holds the European Union presidency.

Various other topics are also on their agenda.
