President Bush vetoed the war bill Tuesday, the four-year anniversary of his "mission accomplished" declaration aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.

The president's veto came as no surprise, and although he said he hopes to reach a compromise with Democrats, he said he won't support an Iraq timetable.

At left, President Bush headed toward Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland for a trip to Florida.
