A rare 1825-35 fireboard with a view of Boston Harbor is among more than 200 lots of folk art from the Ralph O. Esmerian Collection to be offered by Sotheby’s at Saturday’s session of its two-day Americana Week auction.
The oil on pine panel, which has a $250,000-$350,000 estimate, depicts the harbor as seen from Fort Point Channel with views of India Wharf, the State House, and Park Street Church.
Other rarities of Massachusetts include a sampler by Mary Coffin (1790-1864) of Newburyport; an 1854 Shaker ink, pencil, and watercolor gift drawing by Polly Collins (1801-84) of the Hancock Shaker Village community; and a circa 1830 paint-decorated dressing table and two en suite side chairs.
