LINCOLN, Neb.—Police said a 36-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly biting a police officer during a traffic stop about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Officer Katie Flood said the woman was in a Chevy Monte Carlo that was being towed by a Lincoln Navigator. Flood said the Navigator did not have license plates, the Monte Carlo did not have lights and there was about 20 feet of loose strap between the vehicles.

Sgt. Mike Bassett arrested the driver of the Navigator on suspicion of drunken driving. A 5-year-old girl was found sleeping in that vehicle.

Flood said when Bassett told the woman in the Monte Carlo that she would be cited for child neglect, she cursed at Bassett and then allegedly bit him on the arm, drawing blood.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of felony assault on an officer. Bassett was treated at a hospital for the bite.
