Kamerman, 29, grew up in Holland, Mich. He graduated in 1994 from the Rhode Island School of Photography. Kamerman joined the Globe in July 1998 as a part-time photographer. Before that he freelanced for the Associated Press and local newspapers. He lives with his wife Michelle in northern Massachusetts. This is his first experience covering war.
