MESSAGE BOARD Who should lead the rebuilding of Iraq after the war? Questions over the postwar rebuilding of Iraq, which have divided the US and Britain, will be one of the primary subjects of today's summit between President Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Blair is pushing for deep United Nations involvement in the rebuilding of Iraq, while the Bush administration, wary of the UN, seeks a transitional governing authority with a strong US presence. Who do you think should manage the rebuilding? How much influence should the UN have? And what role should Iraqi opposition forces and exiles play?
Page 15 I served with 3/75th ranger Bat. from 82-88 and I think Iraq should vote for their own people. We get involved in alot of things that we shouldn't. DERRICK, boston To Scott and Siobhan and the rest-First of all, we did what we wanted too-it wasn't just the French who were bribing and cajoling and acting in their own sef-interest. I'm not necessarily pro-French but I find this bashing business stupid and small-minded. Also, we didn't go save the French as much as we were going against the Germans. We owe a huge part of our national identity to France not to mention our language and the geographical boundaries and placenames of our country. As for today- the companies that create French wine are multinational and boycotting French goods will put many Americans out of work. Lots of those grpaes are from CA. As for education, great ideas, etc., that reminds of one of Bush's more notorious quotes, "The trouble with the French is they don't have a word for 'entrpreneur.'" You can't blame them for finding that funny. Ann, Boston Hey Dan from Somerset. I am reading between the lines of your ignorant comments. Bush won the election. Get over it. Dale , Weymouth Hey Dan from Somerset- are you really as stupid as you sound., ya, only killed 100,000 and only Briefly invaded a country, no big deal--ya buddy you make sense JR , Dalls I think we should leave some US military there to protect the new form of government run by the exiled Iraqi's and United Nations. I think it's important for us to prove that we aren't there to take over Iraq or destroy Islam, like Sadam's rhetoric suggests. We also need to prove to the neighboring Arab states that our goal is protection and not domination. Karen, Stoughton Dan from Chucktown, Saddam really would be stupid if he used WMD at this point. Not only would it would it solidify support in the US for his removal, but it would pull the rug out from under France, Germany, Russia and China's non-support. They would now have conclusive evidence that he has WMD and all of his international support would evaporate in seconds and the best weapon he has now is not the ability to use WMD, but the support he gets from his Arab neighbors and for sychophants like the French, who don't want to lose those precious oil contracts. Saddam may be a brutal killer, but he is also a survivor and will do anything to have power. He will not use WMD. What WMD/Chemical Weapons have not been trucked out to Syria will be found after the military battle is over and if caught, Saddam should be tried as war criminal. Case closed! Chas, Boston I can't even respond to the like of Spike and Dan, they will never get it, they are so blinded by polictal hatred for GWB, they will never admit the obvious truth of the situation, fortunately 70% of the country does. I truly "feel"(a favorite word among LIBERALS) sorry for all LIBERALS G W is my Hero!, Boston I can't even respond to the like of Spike and Dan, they will never get it, they are so blinded by polictal hatred for GWB, they will never admit the obvious truth of the situation, fortunately 70% of the country does. I truly "feel"(a favorite word among LIBERALS) sorry for all LIBERALS G W is my Hero!, Boston Hey Dan from Somerset, where you ancestors the group who rolled their eyes at the thought of Hitler being too brutal? I'm sorry that you don't think the killing of 100,000 Kurds is cause enough for action, but I recall reading in history books about many (like you) turning a blind eye to Hitler until is was way too late. Do you recall in 1991 when Hussein's regime took over Kuwait? Had we not stopped him then, what other countries might be part of Iraq today? And in regard to Hussein having no WMD, turn on the news before you speak. Did you hear the reports about nerve gas being found? Has nerve gas been declassified as a WMD?? LSN, Lexington,MA Hey "vive", we were already in the war on your soil when japan attacked pearl harbor. we and our real allies should be responsible for rebuilding Iraq, not ze french Dave, South Boston
