What helped you following September 11?
Following the attacks on September 11, many have looked to art, in all its forms, for consolation. Did art help comfort you following the attacks? If so, which piece and how did it help?

Jump Around by House of Pain. I can imagine me and my friends driving a black pickup truck loaded with weapons...driving cross-country from Iraq through "Palestine" and then through Iran and Afganistan. I see us blasting this song and kicking some major middle-eastern but. If that doesn't bring a smile to your face and a comforting feeling in your stomach...?

No art or music could fully capture all that people saw and felt in the days surrounding 9/11. These are things that I associate with that day though. Music: Superman-5 for Fighting Stuck in a Moment-U2 Only Living Boy in NY-Simon & Garfunkel Miami 2017-Billy Joel God Bless the USA-Lee Greenwood Art: Firemen raising the flag...such a powerful image of America's resilience and strength

Whenever I get down about the 9/11 attacks, I have a simple remedy. I try to turn off the lights and the T.V., and just relax my mind and listen to Journey's 1983 hit "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" on repeat. It's a poignant song about love lost and the human capacity to overcome tragedy. Remember everyone, "one day, love will find you."

For me, Five for Fighting's Superman really did it. I still listen to it and become sad. It reminds me of all the people selflessly gave their lives for others.

U2's "One" and when they displayed the names of the victims overhead. It was pretty awesome and I don't think there was one person who wasn't blown away by it.
