Car rental information for travelers

Here is the latest travel information released by car rental companies. Customers of most rental companies may return their cars to any location in North America without additional fees, and one-way rentals are available.
Alamo
Customers who rented from an airport location before 9 a.m. Tuesday may return to any Alamo airport location in North America without additional fees.
One-way rentals are available for $49.95/day, subject to car inventory, at participating locations. This rate has no blackout dates or drop-off fees, and includes unlimited mileage. It is available through October 5 on compact, intermediate, and full-size cars

Avis
Customers who rented before Tuesday at 11 a.m. may return vehicles to any Avis location in the U.S. without additional intercity or drop-off fees
One-way rentals are available at reduced rates at over 600 corporate locations through October 15. Call 800-331-1212 or visit http://www.avis.com for reservations.
Budget
Customers who rented cars on or before Tuesday may return their vehicles by midnight on Friday without additional fees.
One-way rentals are now available for $49.99/day (with unlimited mileage and no drop off fees) to/from most metropolitan areas, subject to availability; at all other U.S. locations, normal rates apply for one-way rentals
Call 866-464-6683 if you have a rental car and plan to drop it at an alternate location
Budget will attempt to honor all confirmed reservations, but cannot guarantee availability or locations

Dollar
Customers who rented before Tuesday at 9 a.m. may return vehicles to any Dollar location in the U.S. without additional intercity or dropoff fees
Rentals may be extended at the rate in effect at the time of rental, call 800-800-4000
For out-of-state drop information, call 800-800-4000; normal out-of-state drop charges will apply
On new reservations, availability varies by location Call 800-800-4000 for information
Enterprise
For information about one-way rentals, call 800-Rent-A-Car (800-736-8222) to connect to the nearest office. Enterprise will waive the one-way drop fee for customers who have an existing rental between September 11 and 17
Reservations can also be made at local branch offices

Hertz
All customers who rented before 9 a.m. Tuesday may return their vehicles to any Hertz location in North America without additional fees
Penalties for cancellations due to U.S. air travel restrictions will be waived
For U.S. travelers re-directed to Canada, Hertz's Canadian locations will honor tour operator and travel agent rental vouchers redeemable against reservations originally booked for the United States
U.S. travelers in Europe with original return dates to the U.S. between Tuesday and Friday, can obtain a free rental extension of up to four days
One-way rentals are available, subject to car inventory

Hotwire
For customers who were unable to return rental cars because the airport or Budget/Hertz location was closed, cars may be dropped off at any Budget/Hertz location
Customers who cannot return a car as scheduled should contact Budget/Hertz directly to extend their rental; please note that rates for extra days may not be the same as the Hotwire rental rate
Customers who are scheduled to pick up a car through September 24 and cannot reach their destination should contact Hotwire at 877-HOTWIRE (877-468-9473) for a refund; other customers should e-mail support@hotwire.com for assistance
National Rent a Car
All customers who rented before 9 a.m. Tuesday may return their vehicles to any National location in North America without additional fees
One-way rentals are available for $49.95/day for a compact, intermediate, or full-size car. This rate is available with unlimited mileage and no drop-off fees

One-way rentals may be possible in certain locations, and standard one-way rates and drop charges will be in effect
