The Democratic Party unsuccessfully challenged Mitt Romney's right to run for governor, contending his three-year residence in Utah disqualified him from running in Massachusetts. At a June 2002 hearing before the state Ballot Law Commission, Romney was questioned by the Democrats' lawyer, Joseph Steinfield (left) while his own lawyer, John Montgomery, looked on.
