Republicans out of the race for president
Herman Cain
Cain, the Georgia businessman and former head of Godfather's Pizza who followed a populist and starkly unconventional presidential campaign, announced Dec. 3 he was suspending his candidacy. Cain said that allegations of sexual harassment and a 13-year affair had hampered his ability to get his message out.Cain had proposed out-of-the box ideas to rebuild the American economy and restore the confidence of the American consumer, including his "9-9-9" tax plan. His ballooning popularity, however, was punctured by a series of revelations concerning allegations of sexual harassment made against him while he was the head of the chief of the National Restaurant Association.
