JUNEAU, Alaska—A state court judge has set arguments for next week in Republican Joe Miller's challenge of the Alaska U.S. Senate race.
Judge William Carey, in granting the state's request for an expedited hearing, says there's a need to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
Miller has questioned the legitimacy of election returns showing Sen. Lisa Murkowski won. He contends the system used by the state in tallying write-in votes for Murkowski was not in line with the law and wrongly favored her.
Carey urged attorneys to file any actions they felt necessary. The state has said questions of voter irregularities raised by Miller are unfounded. But his attorney indicated the campaign would seek to review voter precinct logs and other materials to further investigate those claims.
