Massachusetts Senator John Kerry will play the role of Republican Mitt Romney in President Obama’s upcoming debate preparation sessions. Kerry, a Democrat and his party’s 2004 presidential nominee, has observed the presumptive GOP presidential nominee over a span of 18 years, first as Romney ran for the US Senate in 1994 against his former colleague, the late Edward Kennedy, and then through his single term as the state’s governor and as a 2008 presidential candidate.
