Cirque du Soleil cancels 3 shows

Cirque du Soleil, which opens a limited Boston engagement of its latest show, "Varekai," late next month at Suffolk Downs, has canceled three performances because of road closures scheduled during the July 26-29 Democratic National Convention.

The 8 p.m. performances of "Varekai" on Tuesday, July 27; Wednesday, July 28; and Thursday, July 29 have been canceled. Producers have added an additional show, to take place Sunday, July 25, at 5 p.m.

Cirque du Soleil representatives will contact customers who have purchased tickets to the canceled performances, offering admission to another performance or a full refund, according to a spokeswoman for the show.
