Protesters and police clashed for the first time yesterday as the Democratic National Convention drew to a close, with demonstrators near the FleetCenter burning a flag and a two-faced effigy depicting President Bush and Senator John Kerry, and a few attempting to cut the fence of the city's designated protest zone.
