Ted Strickland
The pitchFormer minister, professor, and five-time congressman Ted Strickland could be a valuable asset for Obama in the vital swing state of Ohio where he is governor. Representative Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of Michigan recently told the Associated Press that Strickland is being considered by Obama's VP search committee.

Strickland is reportedly on Obama's short list of VP possibilities, but the Ohio governor told NPR on June 10 "If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept and if elected I will not serve." Despite this strong statement, Strickland has already started campaigning for Obama in the general election.
