Sam Nunn
The pitchNunn, a former Georgia senator, has a strong reputation both in business and on national security. At 69 years old, he offers experience that could assuage voters worried about Obama's youth, and he could generate support in the South. Representative Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of Michigan said members of the Congressional Black Caucus she heads asked her to suggest Nunn to Obama's vice presidential search team as a potential running mate.
The downside
For a Democrat, he's conservative on social issues, and his longstanding ties to defense contractors could put off some voters.
