Stephen F. Lynch has represented the Massachusetts Ninth Congressional District since 2001. A South Boston native and a former ironworker, Lynch previously served in the Massachusetts Senate. He's a member of the House Financial Services and Government Reform Committees.
Strengths: Lynch has maintained a fairly high profile in Congress. In hearings on Capitol Hill he sharply questioned executives of AIG, the beleaguered insurance giant, and also probed baseball pitcher Roger Clemens.
Weaknesses: Considered by some to be a conservative Democrat, maintaining a pro-life position.
