On the evening of July 18, 1969, a car driven by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy went off the side of a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island, off the shore of Marthas Vineyard. His passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, was found dead; many facts from that point forward have been disputed for decades. Kopechnes body was found in the morning by local fishermen, but Kennedy didnt report the crash to police for almost 11 hours.
