Kara Kennedy, the lone daughter of the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, died Sept. 16, 2011, at a Washington, D.C., health club of an apparent heart attack. Kennedy was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002 and told she might have a year to live; she had part of her right lung removed and underwent chemotherapy, and was thought to be in remission.
