What Obama Left Behind

Posted by Monica Medeiros August 30, 2008 07:18 PM

All week, we've heard about Barack Obama and his plan for change.

Barack Obama and his plan for hope in America.

We've heard him say, "eight years is enough," as he blames the Republican leadership in Washington for all of our nation's woes.

We've heard Michelle Obama talk about the difference he made on the south side of Chicago.

What Barack Obama, the Democratic Presidential nominee, has not told us is that since he's become the US Senator for Illinois, the unemployment rate in that same south side of Chicago neighborhood has risen.

He hasn't told us how the crime rate in that same south side of Chicago neighborhood has risen -- 18% it's risen!

So has homelessness. So has poverty.

I think maybe it's time we listen to the people who know him best, the people left behind in that south side of Chicago neighborhood. See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc6Z807cRFI

  1. Perhaps the rise in unemployment is a symptom of the economic slump affecting the entire country.

    Ever thought about that, hmm?

  1. Some may say that as a US Senator, Mr. Obama is no longer responsible for details like crime rates and economic failure in his home city of Chicago. We all know that the south side is the baddest part of town, or that's what Jim Croce told us, and one man can't be expected to fix it.

OTOH, Mr. Obama is always talking about how badly the U.S. economy is doing (even though the latest report shows over 3% growth in GDP in the second quarter) and he seems to be saying that if we just have faith in him, he will find some way to make it better. Well, the government does not create jobs, business creates jobs; and since when are the Democrats the party of business? Not that I ever heard. They are the party of socialism, just give them all our money and hope for the best, they know how to spend it better than we do, Mr. Obama promises he won't raise my taxes, unless I save a little money and have dividends or capital gains. He says it is not good to raise taxes on the middle class in hard times like these (again, never mind the data, he needs a recession, so we are in a recession, and President Bush caused the recession, and Mr. Obama is the only one who can fix it:-) but it is just fine to tax rich people, and capital gains - stepping right on any hope for economic progress by cutting off its money supply. I commend Mr. Obama for his bipartisan attitude, reaching across the aisle for economic advice from Herbert Hoover, a noted Republican, but when Hoover raised taxes they had a Great Depression and they didn’t have a great time. We Republicans have learned from Hoover’s experience, but the Democrats have not; they never met a tax they didn’t like, d–n the torpedoes, full speed ahead:-) The late Paul Tsongas, a noted Massachusetts liberal senator, said that the dumbest thing he ever did in Congress was vote against the capital gains tax cut, which passed without his vote and turned the economy on to create more jobs. But, Tsongas is not the Democrat who is running this year, so, let’s vote for McCain and real hope for prosperity instead of empty words. And, God bless America, not the opposite.
