Worth the wait

Posted by Monica Medeiros August 29, 2008 12:55 PM

I have to admit, I was getting a little down after watching four nights of superbly executed political theatre at the DNC,

AND THEN....

I watched Sarah Palin give her debut speech as John McCain's running mate.

Unbelievable.

I can't get to Saint Paul fast enough.

This is not a woman who brings nothing to the table except her femininity. This is a strong, experienced woman who has been a City Councilor, a Mayor and a Governor. This is a woman who has fought against wasteful spending, against corruption and for energy independence. She hasn't been afraid to and, in fact, feels it's her duty to challenge the status quo. Her leadership is the kind we need at the White House.

  1. When our VP has more experience than the Dems Presidential nominee, it can only be a good contrast.

  1. You couldn't be more wrong. She was picked not for her independence, but because she's a straight conservative off-the-shelf pick who embodies all the right-wing values that some republicans find lacking in Johnny Mc. She won't provide a shred of leadership in the White House because McCain has no intention of providing her a venue to do so. The reason Ms. Palin doesn't know what the VP does (her words) is because the VP doesn't do anything. And I find it very difficult to imagine McCain's ticket gains a single vote from this pick.

This was another in a long string of incredibly poor strategic decisions by Rick Davis and the McCainiacs. I can't to see Joe Biden obliterate her on foreign policy. Being governor of the state closest to Russia does not make you an expert on foreign affairs.

Incredibly unpresidential. Can't wait to see if McCain still has the gall to attack Obama's readiness to be president.

  1. how does being governor of alaska for a little over one year and a mayor of a town with a population less than 7,000 qualify as more experience than a sitting US senator?

add to that the fact that she is under ethics violations. she is blatantly anti-science (should go well with john "i can't use a computer" mccain, and she favors drilling as a solution to our energy crisis when all serious analysts -- and bush's own dept of energy -- disagree.

oh wait: pro-big oil, anti-science, ethcially questionable.....she sounds JUST like mccain/bush/cheney. the republicans just played into the democrats hands.

  1. Gov. Palin's beliefs is her record and vice-versa. Family, security, and God. Keep talking about Obama's "I, I, I" speach, while the conservatives somehow may have found a way to keep the power with the people.

  1. Undecided voters should consider their own vast experience with two-faced, corporate-run GOP administrations, before jumping on the McCain-Palin snowmo-bandwagon from St Paul to DC.

  1. She has zero foreign policy experience, and based on reports from CNN has met McCain only twice. The vice president pick is the first executive decision a candidate makes, and it looks like politics informed this decision. On the foremost topic of the day, Iraq, Palin, hasn't thought about that very much. Obama chose someone who is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

  1. It's funny to listen to the Dems cry over this great pick of McCain's. get over the Messiah crap and celebrate the sweet smell of victory of the new republican Party!
