Country First
Last night Joe Lieberman spoke in front of a crowd of thousands of people who eight years ago had Sore/Loserman bumper stickers on their cars. That man was a class act. I first met Joe while he was campaigning for John McCain in the same Keene, NH coffee shop where he had campaigned for Al Gore. Anyone who watched Joe, in the 2000 race or in this one, knows that he is a tireless advocate for putting Country First and doing what he thinks is the right thing even if it is not politically expedient.
I think Massachusetts Democrats who put Country First will give a lot of thought to supporting Sen. McCain just like they did Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1984. Some already are. On the floor with us last night was former Democrat Massachusetts State Rep. Brian Golden who is fully behind Senator John McCain. It was an honor to sit with a veteran of Iraq like Brian. I remember thinking to myself during the Denver convention, what are all those Democrats crying about. I have to admit with the tributes last night to vets of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as President Gerald Ford there were a few moist eyes at the Excel Center.
Country First was the message last night and today we will live it as members of the MA delegation put care boxes together for hurricane victims and our soldiers overseas.

I love reading some of the Boston.com bloggers and members of the Democratic "leadership" who call this great American a "snake" because he spoke at the RNC and backs McCain. Those are the exact same people who back Obama because they believe he can "bring this country together" to solve problems. What hypocrites!
Worst. Convention. Ever.
Lieberman. Thompson. Laura Bush.
What, were all the good speakers helping out in the Gulf Coast or something?
Isaac Notes: Yes. Yes they were! Wens. made up for it.
At first I was drawn to this article by what I have mistakenly thought was its satirical and sarcastic style. This is until I realized Mr Mass is serious about his assertions about the GOP nominee and his opportunistic supporter-buddy Lieberman!!!
I had been fairly disappointed in the country's direction for the last year concerning a new president. My concern has the economy and health insurance and such trivial matters low on the agenda. And this is from someone who spend 3 years recovering from a major medical problem and loosing everything my family had. So with that in mind, I look at things this way, what good is a good economy, jobs, health care and such if you are not free to enjoy those things. Those things are things that are not givens, but things we work to achieve. However if we are dead from being invaided or blown up from terrorist, then what good are they. This is why I am excited about having two powerful leaders coming to defend America. The republican party hit a home run on this one. Country First!!!! We need leaders that lead and do not worry about how they are viewed in the public. Such trivia is not important.
Sarah Palin - Family First? or Country First?
Shame on you, Sarah Palin, you should put your "Family First". After the birth of our 19-year-old son with Down Syndrome, my wife and I, both missionaries at the time, moved back to the US and built a life around giving the best care to our son. Today, he has graduated from HS, he thrives in sports and the arts and he has a job. We're very proud of him but there is no way parents could give the attention needed to a special needs son while one parent is displaced in the home, trying to be VP for 4 years. Democrats, here I come, I need to follow Biden in his interest to put family first during challenging times. Our great country relies on great families, we need to all be accountable for our part as parents.
Isaac Notes: Another case of sexism. Plenty of families have women who are parents of children with special needs who work. Often they could not pay the bills for that childs care without working.
