Kerry Likes Dodd's Energy Plan

US Senator John Kerry endorsed US Senator Chris Dodd’s presidential campaign platform on energy, which has been viewed as the most liberal plan proposed by any candidate.

In order to reduce 80 percent of greenhouse gases by 2050, Dodd would enact a corporate carbon tax on businesses that pollute and would require that all cars get at least 50 miles per gallon of gas by 2017.

“[Dodd] has proposed a serious policy to address a serious problem,” said Kerry in a statement. “The Democratic presidential nominating process and all Americans are better off because of Chris' leadership and his passionate commitment to ensuring a cleaner, healthier, and more secure energy future for our country.”

Former Vice President Al Gore has also called Dodd’s plan “very creative.”

Rep. Neal Endorses Clinton

US Representative Richard Neal of Springfield endorsed New York Senator Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination on Tuesday.

He called both Senator Clinton and her husband, the former president, “long-time friends.”

In a conference call with reporters, Neal said Clinton “has a good heart and good mind.”

He will not take a formal role with the campaign, but he said he plans to advise her on foreign policy and recruit volunteers to work for her in New Hampshire, site of the first-in-the-nation presidential primary.

Neal joins fellow Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern, who endorsed Clinton in March. The rest of the Massachusetts delegation has not endorsed a presidential candidate.
